Master Makeup Class with L’Oréal

When I received the invitation to learn from celebrity make-up artist Claudia Betancur during a Master Makeup Class with L’Oréal in L.A., I excitedly said YES! As you can tell my blog is primarily fashion, but I also love beauty and although I don’t consider myself an expert (just yet), I’m eager to learn tips & tricks especially from talented gurus like Claudia.

The setting for this Master Class was picturesque with beautiful views of downtown LA, pinterest-worthy cocktails being served and fellow influencers to chat with! I wish all of my classes were like this! I mean look how chic our workstations were!

Let’s talk about (in Oprah voice) the make up!!! We were each greeted with our own bag of  L’Oréal products that we were going to use to achieve the look that Claudia was going to teach us. As you can see in the face chart below, the look we were creating was a beautiful smokey eye with neutral lips that she had done on one of her clients Jennifer Lopez!

Claudia taught us the look step by step while infusing her tips and anecdotes as she demonstrated on the model. She even shared that J to the L-O taught her a few tricks! The steps that stood out to me and have even influenced the way I do my make up are:

1. Moisturizing before applying make up is key- We used the L’Oréal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Day Moisturizer with SPF 30.

2. We used the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation with the L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Foundation under the yes and blended with a beauty blender. Claudia recommended dampening the beauty blender to layer the make up or move it around to your desired shade. Then we sealed it with the L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Powder (that I still use to this day) and the L’Oréal Paris True Match Naturale Mineral Foundation.

3. Applying eye shadow on the eyelids with your finger! That really struck me because I was so used to using brushes, but with Claudia’s recommendation I rubbed my finger on the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Continuous Cocoa which was a black shade with sparkle and just went to town on my eyelid. Then around it we toned it down by blending it with the other eyeshadows.

4. Finish the look with some glow! We gently dabbed some of the L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator on the top of our cheekbones and on the tip of our nose.

5. Can we talk about how cool the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Lip Gloss is? With 8 shades of nude from dark to even some sparkly, this palette lets you customize your desired shade of nude! I customized my shade to be a nude that was just dark enough to be noticed.
