Sorbet for Bridal Brunch

Upon hearing about my engagement, the wonderful people at the US Grant Hotel San Diego sent me a beautiful golden invitation to their "Something Borrowed" Wedding Event and Bridal Brunch. This event wasn't the typical expo, as it had several rooms including the ballroom extravagantly decorated showcasing the beautiful creations of its vendors, topped with a wedding gown fashion show and more! I will dedicate my next blog post to the event itself, but for today I wanted to share what I wore...

Spring is here and I'm ready to fully embrace pastels starting with this beautiful sorbet dress from ModCloth. The softness and girlyness of the dress made it the perfect dress for this type of event. As usual, I played off of the colors of the dress and added a pop of turquoise and an orangey lip. And as always, if in doubt, wear a nude heel because nude heels go with everything!

Blush and Red Together

When Angelina Jolie wore blush and red together in her 2012 Golden Globes Dress (with matching red lip) it made me realize how gorgeous that unusual pairing was. At first thought, you wouldn't put such a bold red color and such a soft pink/blush color together (they just seem like two extremes in the color scheme), but there's something about this combination that just works. Not only do the two colors balance each other out, but the red adds a fresh pop.

Here is my take on the blush pink and red combination and just like Angelina Jolie, I went for the red lip which really ties up this combination beautifully.

Floral Print in Transition

Although it has felt like Spring in San Diego for some time now- happy official Spring everyone! Seeing as I'm such a sucker for a good floral print pant and mint anything, I threw this lil outfit inspired by Spring but still covered up to brave the transition. You can definitely count on florals and mint every Spring as they are very cyclical trends! Have a great Friday everyone!

Glam up the Sweater

I like that this sweater which is usually reserved for comfy and cozy outfits can be transformed into part of a glam outfit by adding a white collar top under topped with this cute bow tie! I previously did that with a cable knit sweater (here). Give it whirl!

Face-Off Challenge #NeutrogenaRostroLimpio

Please note that this is in collaboration with Neutrogena and Latina Bloggers Connect, this post was created and written by me for lilbitsofchic.com and express my personal views and opinions.

Ah, make up- the magical potions and colors that us women slather on our face! For most of us, it's a day in and day out task, with extra slathering during special events. I for one love the process of putting on my make up (it's like an art form at this point) but the aftermath not so much. When I get home, I'm exhausted and the last thing I want to do is take off all that "art" off of my face! Then that little voice inside my head reminds me that removing make up at the end of the day is a must, not only because at that point its mixed with dirt, but it can clog pores and lead to dreaded break outs. I have an array of techniques I have used through my many make-up wearing years, so I was curious to take on the  Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Face-Off Challenge” and see how it fared.

Here I am, wearing my usual weekday make up:

Rainy Break

San Diego received some much needed rain over the weekend and instead of staying cozily indoors my boyfriend suggested we hit the town (I just went along with it)! These pictures were taken during a break in the rain, but shortly thereafter it poured big time so I was glad I was able to walk over puddles in my rain boots.

In other big personal news (which if you follow me on Instagram you already know) that that evening as we were walking in the rain my man pulled out a little box from his coat, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes (in total shock)! Ladies and gents- this girl is engaged!
