Colorful Palm Springs!

After working so hard in my full time job, a Girls Getaway was soooo needed! The girls and I went to Palm Springs to just RELAX. It felt so good to just chill, not try to worry about work, go to our massages, hang out by the pool, drink some margaritas and enjoy some fine dining. We went to the very hip and colorful Saguaro hotel and dined at their restaurant Tinto. It was an interesting food concept where you order a bunch of food for the table and they bring it out one by one in a steady flow. My taste buds were in HEAVEN (pictures of the food towards the end) but first....

Neon Jeans to Shop

Happy Thursday, almost Friday (yipee!). This past Saturday I met up with a lovely fellow San Diegan Fashion Blogger, Rachel Da Paura. The great thing about meeting up with other fashion bloggers is that not only do you share the passion for fashion, but it's a great way to network and brainstorm ideas. After having a coffee, Rachel and I headed over to the Shopaholics Boutique in Little Italy San Diego where they hosted a "Spring into Style" event featuring their clothing, trunk shows from Shop Belina, and Dama Handbags. I had such a great time mingling, shopping, networking, and sippin' on some champagne! Hope you enjoy the pics :)

SD Mag Fashion Show

Happy Tuesday! I just got back from a spa escapade in Palm Springs with the girls and I'm so relaxed! I can't wait to show you those pictures, but first I wanted to show Part 2 of the pictures I took at the San Diego Magazine's Fashion Show at the Hard Rock Hotel. They showcased looks from Custo Barcelona (intricate colorful patterns), Betsey Johnson (oh the frilly fun girly dresses) and Hugo Boss (for men). Here are some of my favorites!

To see what I wore in detail, check out my last blog post (here)!

Neon is cyclical

On Friday I wore this outfit to the San Diego Magazine fashion show party at the Hard Rock hotel. I've been wanting to wear this skirt for quite some time, seeing as I have only worn it once 2 years ago!!! As with many trends, I knew that neon would come back in style so I held on to this skirt, as I hold on to a lot of pieces hoping they come back in style.

Style Tip: I firmly believe that fashion is cyclical, so if you really like a piece of clothing and it's of great quality I hold on to it and bust it out when it comes back in style. Of course, it's always best to do it in moderation to avoid being classified as a hoarder :) Hope you enjoy the pics... I will put pictures of the actual fashion show on the next post!

Coming soon: Fashion Week SD

As many of you know I live in San Diego, California and although it may not be a fashion capital it does have a thriving and growing fashion community. That is why, I was so excited to hear that there was a Fashion Week San Diego in the works!!

Allison Andrews, the founder of Fashion Week San Diego, last brought us Fashion Week SD back in 2008 and has undertaken the task yet again to bring it back this year. I'm so in awe of Allison and her team's dedication to making this happen that I had to ask her a few questions....

What inspired you to create Fashion Week SD?
Allison: The fashion community of San Diego needed this event. I was working with several boutique and designer clients doing smaller fashion events around town and people wanted these events. Crowds would come out every night of the week and from it we grew into needing a larger event. The key was that we now had the designers to support doing a real fashion week in San Diego.

What do you think sets our San Diego Fashion community apart from other cities' fashion communities?
Allison: The best part about the talent coming out of San Diego in Art, beauty and fashion is the innovation and hard work. It is well thought out, well made and very creative. San Diego talent realizes to make a splash and make a name doing what they love to do it has to be great mediocre won't do it in this city. The best example of this is in FWSD12 the designers are better than what I saw in LA this last year. They work so much harder and it shows in the detail and perfection in their designs. We are lucky to be at the start of something big in this town.

What do you like most about organizing Fashion Week SD?
Allison: Changing lives. Helping other and providing a high quality produced event that people remember and want to make a regular every year.

What is your ultimate goal for FWSD?
Allison: The Ultimate goal is two things...#1 is to have multiple designers grow to be leaders in the industry that got their start at this event. #2 is to become an industry event were we get on the buyers calendar every year.

In what ways can SD Fashion bloggers contribute to Fashion Week SD?
Allison: The best thing anyone can do is talk about it. Talk about the talent, get to know them the designers they  are incredible!

Fashion Week SD 2012 is set to take place the October 1-7, 2012 with a big runway show taking place on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel. It will be showcasing 17 amazing fashion designers (already announced on fashionweeksd.com) as well as showcasing the talent of beauty gurus throughout the week. One of the designers will even win a business package to help catapult their business! I hope that this is one of many FWSD's to come, and that it places a well-deserved spotlight on our fashion community! Be sure to check out www.fashionweeksd.com for all the details!

Whimsical Rose

Hope you all had a great weekend! Don't you just love when you find a great top that makes an outfit? This top from Forever 21 did just that for me because it has so many trendy elements: the bow self tie, the peek-a-boo sleeves, the sheer material, the pastel color and the back is very distinct. I chose to keep everything else demure so that the top could be the focal point. Hope you all have a great week!
