The Best of Me

I’ll be the first to admit, I love make up, but when I wash my face at night and it all comes off, that’s when I feel my truest self, my best. Coming home and cleaning my face is the equivalent of taking off the painful shoes at the end of the day.

How much time does a woman spend applying make up on a daily basis? I know it makes us feel good to “enhance” or hide, but we must not forget to try to spend that much time caring for our skin. We must remember that our skin endures a lot: make up, sweat, sun rays, etc, but most importantly our skin without make up is our natural beauty.

This picture is of me without make up: No foundation, no eyeliner, no mascara... no nothing! I will say this is a first here on my blog, but a much needed first because it feels liberating!! Yes, I have wrinkles, I have dark spots, but hey that's me!

When I was younger I took my skin for granted, but as I age it becomes clear to me that caring for my skin is essential. I wash my face in the mornings and evenings, I moisturize and protect my skin with SPF in between. Over time, I add new ingredients to my skincare routine depending on my skin’s needs and NEUTROGENA® Rapid Tone Repair has been one of my favorite additions. It is a fast-acting lightweight silky moisturizer that is clinically proven to help fade the look of dark spots, and discoloration giving skin a healthier look with minimal irritation!
NEUTROGENA® Rapid Tone Repair has a day time version (with SPF protection) and a night time version. Both of which are ah-mazing!

☮ & ♥,

Sunset on Snake Print

And so we begin another week! I started to shop for some fall clothing but it's difficult to get into that mood in this San Diego heatwave. Oooh-wee it's hot!! If there's anything you should know about San Diegans it is that we are spoiled with our weather, so much so that some of us didn't need an A/C....until now. So pardon me as I give you another hot summer look, as this skirt is so light and airy with slits on the sides paired up with a simple black cami to stay fresh in the outdoors. I accessorized with two San Diego based designers (feNa and About Pretty Things) and voilĂ  off to enjoy the hot summer day!

Chambray by the Bay

Happy Friday!! Let the countdown to the weekend begin! Last weekend the boyfriend and I were twiddling our thumbs thinking "let's do something fun" and so we headed off to Coronado Island for a day of... what else? drinking! Keep in mind it's super hot (anything over 80 degrees in San Diego is considered "super hot") so my poor boyfriend started feeling dehydrated. Before his dehydration, I managed to get a few shots by the bay with my good ol' city's skyline in the back. I love Coronado, I worked there for about 6 years and driving in was always a treat with the amazing views! If you're ever in San Diego this is definitely a place to visit!

Fit and Flare Dress

The funnest part about fashion is indulging in versatility. One day I'm in a casual safarish outfit and the next I'm prim and proper in a fit and flare polka dot dress!

The back story: I had ordered a cute Dorothy Perkins dress for my friends' wedding but due to it being international shipping (which I didn't know at the time) the dress didn't make it in time! What to do? I ran into Forever 21 like a maniac and I magically came across this dress. When I tried it on I was sold! It's fitted (check!), elegant (check!), polka dots (double check!) and has pockets (bonus check!). The fit-and-flare dress has a flattering and elegant silhouette and it reminds me of something Betty Draper would wear.

Safari Chic

Judging by my last posts I have had a bold colors and high bunned obsession, but today, inspired by this gorgeous croc-embossed clutch from feNa Designs, I decided to stick to earth tones. Adding this trench vest gave my outfit a Safari-ish feel which went with the heat wave we are having here in San Diego! Stay cool San Diego!

Color & Leather for San Diego Blogger Meet Up

Rachel from Da Paura and I have been hard at work for months launching San Diego Style Bloggers, as well as organizing our first blogger meetup which we held this past Saturday! We invited fellow bloggers to the chic Shopaholics Boutique in Little Italy to shop, meet, greet, sip on champagne and Magners Irish Cider. We had The Goods Mag come out and support us with a gorgeous bevy of models and The Belina Girls also came by and provided the cutest swag bags filled with their jewelry!

I want to take the opportunity to thank my fellow co-founder Rachel from Da Paura because she's been amazing to work with! Both of us brought our areas of expertise to the table, so together we made an amazing team (if I may say so myself!). We were so pleased with the outcome and are getting ready to do it all over again, in the meantime make sure to check us out at SD Style Bloggers!

My Photo Diary: Chicago

Happy Tuesday! Today I wanted to share with you my Chicago photo diary. Aside from fashion, I also love photography and travel and this is a combo of both. The best part of traveling for me is taking pictures. I'm so drawn to architecture, street art, gorgeous scenery, the history and I try to capture those moments with my camera.

Every time I travel I ask myself, why haven't I traveled more?? It's such a great experience! Especially when I travel on my own, I do a lot of reading and reflecting which I feel I don't do enough here due to the day-to-day chaos. I come back refreshed and enriched with new thoughts, new goals, and a sort of different mind frame because for a time period you break out of the routine.

Racetrack Retro Dots

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I can't wait to share the pictures of this past weekend including our first San Diego Style Bloggers meet up that Rachel and I organized! But first, I wanted to share these beauties courtesy of my great photographer sister and a nice day at the Del Mar Racetrack.

It has become our "couples tradition" to get a table trackside, enjoy food, drinks and of course, bet on some horses! Lucky for us, my brother in law's uncle owns a horse that was racing that day and he was generous enough to give us some "owner" parking which came in super handy as thousands of San Diegans headed into the track at the same time! Unfortunately his horse didn't win, BUT I broke even with a few losses and a couple of wins! To end the day, we watched a free concert from Los Tucanes de Tijuana, which brought back so many memories of the good ol' days partying in Tijuana! Hope you like the pictures and hope you have a great day!

5 Ways Fridays: Printed Shorts

Happy Friday! As you may have noticed by now, I am very fond of the printed shorts trend so it should be no surprise that I am dedicating a 5 Ways Fridays to it!

From polka dots to florals to tribal (the list goes on) printed shorts are a fun (and sometimes bold) way to spruce up your outfit for the hot outdoors. Don't feel limited to pairing up your printed shorts to a white tank top or tee but take it to the next level with some of my tips below! Even better yet, all of the shorts in this blog post cost below $25! Have a great Friday (woop-dee-doo!)

Shop Good in Polka Dots

Happy Wednesday! This past Sunday, I, along with fellow San Diego bloggers Rachel, Jess, and Jennifer, attended "Shop Good" an eco friendly pop up shop located in the heart of downtown San Diego.  The event was hosted by great companies like Future: Standard. It was refreshing to chat with the owner Jessica about how she started her business and it was inspirational to hear that her company is a fusion of her two passions: fashion and the environment. Hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for reading!

*Don't forget I'm currently hosting an amazing $75 gift card giveaway to Future:Standard online boutique here! but hurry it ends this Friday!*
